Bal Yuvak Mandal

With the blessings of the saints from Bhuj Temple, even today all the religious festivals are celebrated gracefully. By celebrating the religious festivals like Vasant Panchmi, Shravan Maas Katha, Janmashtmi, Ramnavmi, Hari Jayanti, Ekadashi, Hindola Mahotsav, Diwali, and other religious utsavs as well, the Mombasa satsangis are trying to compose the Udhav Sampraday’s customs and Hindu religious image more actively. For this to continue it is necessary to part the knowledge of all these deeds to the future generations by educating today’s youth.

With this in mind and with the consent of the saints, elder Haribhaktos’ suggestions and efforts by the youngsters, the Bal-Yuvak Mandal, as is today was established in 1987 with a noble beginning of a very few youths. The main objective to establish this Bal-Yuvak Mandal was to spread religion and Sanskars to the entire community for a strong foundation for the next generation. With time as more and more youths and their parents became aware of the benefits of attending the Sunday sabha, the number increased drastically from a few to the current over 400 youths. With the increased numbers, and the thirst of the Haribhaktos to follow up each person to attend and monitor their progress, a grouping system was created based on the age of the individual. By so doing it became easier to teach the members what they could digest best based on their age rather than bombard them with the knowledge which would mean nothing less than nuclear science to them. Basic principles of life of attendance, timeliness, respect are installed into the minds of the youths from a tender age of 3 years.

Today, in this Bal-Yuvak Mandal, about 650 to 700 children and elders acquire the sanskars of honesty, righteousness and knowledge which apply in their day to day life. They also achieve knowledge on how to walk on the spriritual path to attain Moksha. The girls also gain knowledge from the ladies as they are the future mothers. That is the way the children will gain sanskars from the mothers. For this, ladies are the only support of sanskars for the children; As the saying goes. “One educated mother equal a hundred teachers”

Just like the success of theatricals plays, movies etc. is dependent on the people working behind the curtains, our Bal-Yuvak Mandal are the ones responsible for all the successful activities under the temple banner while they stay behind the “curtains”. These activities range from the day-to day running of the Sunday Sabha to special activities for these sabhas, organizing celebration of various religious festivals, to organizing major events for the temple like the “Shree Sahajanand Mahotsav” marking 50 years since the inception of the temple.
